 Outreach and mentoring activities related to research and policy. 

2024. Colorado Art Science Environment (CASE) Fellowship Program. Collaborated with sculptor Amy Hoagland to co-produce an exhibit titled: Reflecting on Wildfire in the Colorado Front Range. Eight art-science collaborations exhibited in the State Capitol Rotunda and across Colorado.

2023. Participated in award-winning documentary film, Elemental: Reimagine Wildfire. directed by Trip Jennings and produced by Ralph Bloemers.

​

2022. Contributed data and protocols for conducting field surveys assessing successional responses to short-interval, high-severity fires in the Greater Yellowstone Area. StoryMap produced by Kristin Braziunas and Nathan Kiel.

​

2021. Mentor. Guided research project development and data analysis on wildfire emissions by Boulder High School senior in the Science Research Seminar (SRS) Program, culminating in student-led research paper and presentation in BVSD Regional Science Fair.

​

2020. Reviewed Wildfire Curriculum for underserved high schools in Colorado developed by CIRES’ Education and Outreach Program.

​

2019. Invited Speaker to the US Government Accountability Office’s Wildland Fire Issue Panel, GAO Federal Lands Group, Denver Field Office, Denver, CO.

​

2018. Invited Speaker and Lead scientist in the American Geosciences Institute Policy & Critical Issues Webinar: Adapting Wildfire Management to 21st Century Conditions.

​

2018. Contributed to documentary film The Human Element, about the impact of climate change on wildfire, air and water, produced by James Balog and Olivia Ahnemann.

​

2017. Congressional Witness. Provided expert testimony in the U.S. House of Representatives Subcommittee on Federal Lands Hearing on “Seeking Better Management of America’s Overgrown, Fire-Prone National Forest”. Washington, D.C.

2017. Invited Participant. Workshop on Defining ecological and social resilience in fire-prone ecosystems, Missoula, MT.

2016. Invited Participant. Workshop on Fire and bark beetles, organized by the Northern Rockies Fire Science Network. Missoula, MT.

2012. Contributor to the National Climate Change Assessment, chapter on Ecological Impacts (disturbance) in the Southwestern US, and a report on fire-climate interactions in the southwestern US for the US Global Change Research Program.
